Walkaway needs two things to work:
To use walk-to-unlock, also allow Motion & Fitness when prompted — that's how your steps are counted, entirely on your device.
Commitment locks and hard blocks are irreversible by design. There is no override — not even from us.
When you seal a block with a commitment lock (3 hours up to 1 week), it cannot be paused, edited, or removed until the timer ends. We have no remote unlock, no support backdoor, and no way to lift it for you, no matter the reason. That's the entire point of the feature — and it's why we ask you to confirm before locking.
Before you lock, think about what you might need. Never block apps you may need in an urgent situation: banking, medical, two-factor authentication, messaging you rely on, transport, or anything similar. Block the feeds, not your lifelines.
What always keeps working: Walkaway only ever restricts the specific apps you selected. Phone calls, Emergency SOS, and emergency services are handled by iOS itself and are never affected by Walkaway. Every app you didn't block stays available.
If the block is a walk-to-unlock block: walk. Hit your step goal and the app opens.
If it's a hard block or a commitment lock: it will open automatically when the scheduled window or lock timer ends — and not before. We cannot unlock it for you; nobody can. Anything you didn't block (including calls, SMS, Safari, and every other app) keeps working normally, and you can usually reach the same service through its website in Safari.
If something truly urgent comes up, remember that emergency calls and Emergency SOS are never affected by Walkaway.
